Electra Connect’s Charge & Drive Event Brings Electric Driving to Brighton
EMC sponsored Electra Connect’s Charge & Drive Event in Brighton, delivering over 100 BYD test drives and showcasing electric and hybrid vehicles across Sussex.

Eastbourne Motoring Centre (EMC) were proud to be the main sponsor of this year’s Charge & Drive Event, which was free to attend and attracted local drivers, interested in electric and hybrid vehicles in the Sussex area.
The event was a huge success, taking place on Madeira Drive in Brighton, with sunny weather throughout the day contributing to a steady flow of visitors and a busy test drive schedule.
Over 100 BYD Test Drives in One Day
As the main sponsor, EMC showcased the BYD electric and plug-in hybrid range in Brighton, with 20 vehicles available for test drives throughout the day.
Models available for test drive included the Dolphin, Dolphin Surf, Atto 2, Atto 3, Seal, Seal U DM-i, Seal 6 DM-i, Sealion 5 DM-i and Sealion 7, giving attendees the opportunity to experience a wide range of BYD electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles first-hand.
Across the day, over 100 BYD test drives were completed, demonstrating strong engagement and interest in BYD vehicles in Brighton and East Sussex.
Introducing the BYD Shark 6 on Display
Visitors were also able to view the BYD Shark 6 plug-in hybrid pickup truck (Australian Specification Version), a model not yet available in the UK.
Experts from EMC and BYD UK
Team members from EMC’s Eastbourne and Uckfield branches, alongside BYD UK staff, were on hand throughout the event to answer questions and provide information about the vehicles on display.
A Collaborative EV Event in Brighton
The event also welcomed other attendees, including Believ, a charge point operator (CPO), along with other manufacturers such as Chery, Maeving, Prime and Suzuki, showcasing a range of electric vehicles and charging solutions.
